Timmy Awards Announces BreatheSuite As 2021 Tech for Good Regional Winner, Progresses to Final North American Round
Tech in Motion recognizes local organizations using tech to uplift our communities

St. John’s, NL, Canada (October 12, 2021) – BreatheSuite Inc., a connected respiratory health company, has been announced as a Regional Timmy Award Winner in the Best Tech for Good category, recognizing the top workplaces for tech professionals across North America. With winners of the Regional Timmys chosen by a popular vote, BreatheSuite was recognized by other members of the tech industry for responding to the challenges facing those around them and has used technology to help their communities adapt, improve and grow in 2021.

“The Best Tech for Good Category is a prime example of how the tech industry can reach out and lift up their communities,” says Mandy Walker, Director of Marketing at Motion Recruitment, Tech in Motion’s creator. “The Regional Timmy winners in this category have truly gone above and beyond, and it is a privilege to share their stories of how they used technology to overcome the world’s challenges.”

BreatheSuite is striving to enhance the lives of people living with serious respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD by improving their inhaler use and adherence to help them get the prescribed dosage of medication to their lungs. BreatheSuite’s over-the-counter device – which recently received 510(K) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – turns regular metered-dose inhalers (MDIs) into smart inhalers. A disposable, battery-powered, portable BreatheSuite MDI       device attaches to the top of the canister of the user’s inhaler. The device and a mobile app based on behavior change strategies work together to evaluate and “score” a person’s inhaler technique and usage patterns, storing results in the cloud so the person can track and use this information to improve how they use their inhaler. With consent, this information can also be remotely monitored by the person’s healthcare team to promote customizable care plans. By supporting more effective inhaler use and remote patient monitoring (RPM), BreatheSuite aims to improve quality of care and health outcomes while reducing the economic burden associated with these conditions.

“The BreatheSuite team is honored to receive the 2021 Tech for Good Regional Timmy Award and to be recognized by our peers for the importance of our work to improve the lives of people with asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions,” said Brett Vokey, CEO and Founder of BreatheSuite.

BreatheSuite and other regional winners across North America will now go to the final round, where they will be judged by experts from across the tech field such as Justin Michela, Vice President, Architecture at Fidelity Investments, Tim Edward, Executive Director, Enterprise Platform Solutions at Ally, and more. Winners will be announced at the 7th Annual Timmy Awards ceremony on October 28th. Streaming live on YouTube, the virtual ceremony will feature amazing guest speakers and some fun surprises.  If you are interested in learning more, or how you can be a part of it, visit the Timmy Awards website.
