Frequently asked questions
Most patients complete the program in about 10-12 weeks, but your physical therapist will tailor the length based on your needs. Some may finish in as little as 6 weeks, while others benefit from the full 12 weeks.
You’ll meet with your physical therapist once or twice a week over telehealth, depending on your needs and schedule. If you're assigned a respiratory therapist as well, you meet on average once a month.
All sessions are done over a Healthcare Zoom video call, so you can participate in the privacy of your own home.
We’re fully virtual, which means you can join telehealth calls from home with all providers during the program.
We use Healthcare Zoom, which is simple to download and free to use. We have a team dedicated to helping you get set up if needed.
Each session ranges from 45-60 minutes long.
Your therapist will guide you through exercises and breathing techniques that are tailored to your body’s ability. We’ll also focus on strengthening your breathing muscles, practicing ways to manage shortness of breath, and building skills to help you stay active and in control of your lung health as life happens. Everything is personalized, safe, and designed to help you feel more confident day to day.
We currently only offer one-on-one sessions with your physical and respiratory therapists. In the future, as we open group sessions, these will be completely optional to attend.
Most insurance plans cover pulmonary physical therapy services. We’ll check your benefits for you and let you know if there are any costs prior to starting.
If you’re informed that your insurance requires a copay or partial coverage, we’ll let you know upfront - there are no surprise charges. You’ll receive clear instructions to create an account and pay securely through our patient portal at your convenience.
It’s very simple. Before your first visit, we’ll help you set everything up, and our team is available if you need extra support. On the day of your session, you’ll just log in to your BreatheSuite patient portal and join your video call with your therapist from your phone or computer - whichever you prefer. All you need is a device with internet and a camera, and we’ll guide you through the rest.
Almost all smartphones, tablets, and computers work with Zoom, so chances are your device is ready. Before your first visit, we’ll walk you through a quick setup and make sure everything runs smoothly. If you’d like, our support team can also hop on a test call with you so you feel confident before starting your sessions.
Absolutely. We encourage family or caregivers to join if you’d like extra support.
That’s a great question. Physical therapists and respiratory therapists play different but complementary roles in helping you manage your lung health.
Your physical therapist will guide you through tailored exercises and breathing techniques to help you get stronger, improve your endurance, and manage shortness of breath in daily life. They also look at the whole picture - your home setup, lifestyle, and routines - to help you do more with greater ease and confidence.
Your respiratory therapist focuses on your medications, inhaler technique, oxygen use, and day-to-day symptom management. They’ll be your ongoing support for questions or changes that come up with your breathing overtime.
Together, they make sure you have the tools, strength, and confidence to live as fully and independently as possible, despite your respiratory condition.
Before your first appointment, there are just a few simple steps:
Set up your BreatheSuite account - you’ll receive an email with instructions to create your login.
Open your Welcome Kit - it includes easy-to-use equipment for tracking your vitals. Please have these items ready at your visit.
Complete your intake forms - these can be filled out online before your first call.
We’ll guide you through each step by email, and if you need help at any point, our support team is just a call away. Once those are done, you’ll be fully ready to meet your BreatheSuite provider.
